Most compound probability worksheets give students a finished tree and ask them to read numbers off it. This one works the other way around. Students label every leaf themselves, and the tree fills in as they type — so a missing outcome or a duplicated one becomes visible immediately, in the diagram, before it turns into a wrong answer three questions later.

Students represent the sample space of a compound event using a tree diagram and an organized list, then find the probability of events described in everyday language by identifying which outcomes make up each event. Across three scenarios (a two-stage lunch choice, three flips of a single coin, and a shirt-and-shoes combination), students build each tree themselves, count the total number of outcomes, and express each probability as the fraction of matching outcomes over the size of the sample space. Later questions deliberately pair related events so students begin to notice complements and whole-branch shortcuts without being handed a counting formula.
